ABOUT THE CLUB

Welcome to our web-site!
You have found the Home-pages of the N.S.W. Chapter of the Front Line Tourers Motorcycle Club. A Motorcycle Club that caters for Emergency Services Members, their family and friends.

When was it started? - The Frontline Tourers (The Australian Emergency Services Motorcycle Touring Club) called FLT for short was formed in May 1993 in Victoria by Michael White who is the founding and current President and a serving Police Officer. Together with his brother Peter White who is a Firefighter in Victoria they set out on a couple of rides with friends. Over the years the club grew and is now a national organisation. Today, the Frontline Tourers Motorcycle club is well recognised and one of the most respected motorcycle clubs in Australia.

Why? - In the past, participation in other motorcycle club rides and functions for emergency service personnel was often difficult due to the nature of our shift-work. This is one reason why this club is so successful. The club currently has chapters in VIC ACT NSW QLD and TAS with in excess of 700 members. Numerous enquiry's lead to the club expanding into NSW so in February 2001 the NSW Chapter was formed under the direction of Grant Quinlin, serving firefighter and NSW President, together with twelve other founding members.

What do you do? - The club brings together Police, Fire and Ambulance officers from all over Australia. All bike types and sizes are more than welcome. Activities concentrate on our popular single day and night rides, with 2 - 3 overnight rides per year. The clubs other activities include ride schools and track days, club social events, riding with other FLT Chapters and the annual pilgrimage for the Super-bikes and Moto-Grand-Prix to Phillip Island.

How is the club run?- The club is primarily run through the internet. This allows us to keep paperwork to a minimum and members constantly updated. Our web-site is http://fltnsw.tripod.com or email fltnsw@hotmail.com for more information about the club, membership, up-coming events and rides. Alternatively contact can be made through the secretary or one of our Police Fire or Ambulance reps. Country areas can make contact through regional reps.

Where do you ride? - Rides start from different locations every time. Ranging from the north, south and west fringes of the Sydney basin to accommodate riders all over the state. Recent rides included day trips to Bowral (Macquarie pass and Kangaroo Valley), Bathurst (Bells Line Rd, Sofala and Mount Panorama) and Phillip Island (Super-bikes). Special events include Eugowra (via Dubbo and Parkes), The Snowy Mountains Ride, Christmas BBQ at Prospect reservoir, Hunter Valley Wineries, Pollieville 2001 in the ACT ,Jindabyne 2002(an all Chapters combined weekend), Gold Coast 2003 and Tasmania 2004 together with our regular day rides which are very popular and held on a  Friday

What's in it for me?-The benefits of the club go further than just riding motorcycles. Members receive discounts at bike shops, ride schools, accommodation and major events. The club also has its own support vehicle for breakdowns and carries emergency provisions and first aid kits (just in case). Most importantly, the greatest benefit in joining the club has to be the members. They provide the friendships, the laughs and the story telling after a good days ride.

What are the best rides?- We go on rides every 6th Friday, and these rides vary from 200 Km to 300 Km (Average ride about 250 Km) . Members also have the opportunity to participate in motorcycle training courses such as Stay Upright, motorcycle maintenance days and overnight rides. Already our primary yearly overnighter (The Lager Frenzy which is a combined club meet) has become a must attend event attended by 100's of members every year.

What is it like?- Our club is based around a simple policy -  that is, except for basic safety rules we do not preach to our members, lets face it most of us have enough rules at work. The club uses an International group riding system / platform so nobody gets lost and allows the ride  to flow smoothly and takes any pressure of individual riders. We are  not attempting to be imitation bikers, we are just a group of people who have a love of motor cycling. We don't care whether you ride a Harley or a Honda, a 250 or a 1300 rocket, if you are into bikes then we would like you to join us

Our mission is to further promote our services working together, by providing the opportunity to ride together.

As our motto states...

"Work Together - Ride Together"
